Course Outcomes-

The Course outcome is as follows: The Learner will be capable to

  1. Understand Definitions and expressions for drag, Practical problems involving fluid flow around submerged objects, lift, drag coefficient, lift coefficient, types of drag. Effects of free surface and compressibility on drag, Lift on cylinder and Aerofoil, Magnus effect.
  2. Implement and understand Depth-Energy Relationships in Open Channel Flow and understand Conditions for the occurrence of critical flow, Froude’s number.
  3.  Study Chezy’s & Manning’s formulae and Factors affecting Manning’s roughness coefficient
  4. Learn force & work done due to the impact of the jet on stationary and moving.
  5. Study Performance of hydraulic turbines and predict the performance regarding unit quantities and specific quantities.
  6. Learn Definition and types of non-uniform flow, The Methods of GVF computations, Direct Step method, Graphical Integration method, Standard Step method, Vente Chow method.

Course Objective-

  1. To understand the basics of fluid mechanics-2.
  2. Understand Fundamental concepts of Practical problems involving fluid flow around submerged objects, lift, drag coefficient, lift coefficient, types of drag.
  3. Use Chezy’s & Manning’s formulae and understand Gradually Varied Flow (GVF) & Rapidly Varied Flow (RVF).
